Today, 31 March 2017, was the last day to exchange 500 and 1000 Indian rupee notes at the Reserve Bank of India branches in India. By the time when we publish this article, the branches have closed and 500 and 1000 rupee notes no longer have any monetary value.

But that does not mean your old 500 and 1000 Indian rupee notes are worthless. Starting from today, we restart the exchange of the cancelled ₹500 and ₹1000 rupee notes.

How to exchange 500 and 1000 Indian rupee notes that were cancelled in 2016

At Leftover Currency we have restarted the exchange of 500 and 1000 Indian rupee banknotes cancelled in 2016. Starting from 31 March 2017, all INR500 and 1000 bills will be exchanged at an exchange rate that covers their collectable value.
