The Gate have a vision to build a church where everyone is welcome
The Gate is a vibrant church community that was founded in 2006 by the amalgamation of Tilehurst Free Church and Groveland’s Christian Fellowship to share the good news of Jesus and to be a beacon of hope and love in Reading and the surrounding areas. Today there are over 260 people who worship at the Gate across their different communities, including in Tilehurst and Sindlesham. There are many more who benefit from the church ministries including Acorns Nursery School and youth and children’s projects.
The Gate are working towards creating a much needed space for the community to come together
The charities main building is over 50 years old and is impractical for the growing needs of their multi-generational and multi-cultural community. The Gate have embarked on an ambitious redevelopment programme to create a new multi-purpose facility.
The new multi-purpose church centre will allow people to come together creatively round skills such as art, dance and music. It will allow the community to explore projects that help alleviate serious issues society faces such as food poverty and mental health on a local level, and allow the church community to come together in ways they have not been able to, due to space restrictions.
