The Azerbaijani manat is the national currency of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The manat replaced the Soviet ruble in 1992. It was first introduced with the currency code AZM. In 2006, following years of high inflation, a new manat was introduced with currency code AZN, replacing the old manat at a rate of 5000 old to 1 new.
