The Trinidad and Tobago dollar is the national currency of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago since 1964, following the country’s independence from the United Kingdom in 1962.
A member of the British Commonwealth, Trinidad and Tobagonian banknotes featured the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II until 1977. Since then all TT$ banknotes have the national coat of arms on their front side, with the national motto “Together we aspire, together we achieve”.
