The Slovak Koruna was the currency of Slovakia, from the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993, until 2009, when it was replaced by the Euro. The name ‘koruna’ means ‘crown’ and has its origin in the Latin word ‘corona’. It is related to similarly named ‘krona’ and ‘krone’ currencies of Northern Europe.
