The Romanian Old Leu was the currency of Romania from 1867 to 2005, when it was replaced by the new Romanian Lei at a rate of 10,000 old Lei to 1 new Leu. Before the Old Leu was revalued, it was one of the world’s least valued currency units, which explains why four zeroes were dropped in 2005.
