The Central Bank of the Republic of China issued new Taiwan dollar banknotes in 5 different denominations,
including this 100 New Taiwan Dollar banknote. They are part of the current New Taiwan Dollar banknotes series. The Central Bank of the Republic of China started issuing
these 100 new Taiwan dollar banknotes in 2001. They are currently still in circulation.
The red 100 yuan or new Taiwan dollar banknote depicts Dr Sun Yat-sen, who is known as the Father of the Taiwanese Nation. He became the first leader of a Republican China when appointed as Provincial President in 1912. The back of the note shows the Chung-Shan building in Yangmingshan National park, Taipei. Originally used for the National Assembly, it now serves as a venue for state visits and ceremonies.
