The Bank of Thailand issued Thai Baht banknotes in 5 different denominations,
including this 20 Thai Baht banknote (updated portrait). They are part of the current Thai Baht banknotes series. The Bank of Thailand started issuing
these 20 Thai Baht banknotes in 2013. They are currently still in circulation.
On the front of this green 20 baht banknote is an updated portrait of King Rama IX, King of Thailand. On the reverse is the statue marking King Ran Khamhaeng the Great’s creation of the Thai script in the 13th century.
In 2017 a new version of this banknote was issued in remembrance of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) who died in 2016. This version shows the King as a child on the reverse.
