The Bank of Thailand issued Thai Baht banknotes in 6 different denominations,
including this 1000 Thai Baht banknote (updated portrait). They are part of the current Thai Baht banknotes series. The Bank of Thailand started issuing
these 1000 Thai Baht banknotes in 2015. They are currently still in circulation.
This 1000 baht brown banknote depicts the late His Majesty King Rama IX on the front, with an updated portrait. The rear shows King Rama V, Phra Phutthayotfa Chulalok, the Royal Buddha.
In 2017 a new version of this banknote was issued in remembrance of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) who died in 2016. This version shows the King in later life on the reverse.
