The official currency of Bangladesh is the Bangladeshi taka, with the currency code BDT and the symbol ৳. Bangladesh Bank, the country’s central bank, is responsible for issuing and managing the currency.
The taka was introduced in 1972, shortly after Bangladesh gained independence, and replaced the Pakistani rupee.
