They are part of the withdrawn Eastern Caribbean Dollar banknotes series. The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank started issuing these 20 Eastern Caribbean dollar banknotes in 1965. They were withdrawn from circulation in 1985.

The purple coloured $20 East Caribbean Currency Authority banknote features a young Queen Elizabeth II and an image of turtles on the front side. The back side of the twenty dollars EC$ bill shows a view on St Lucia harbour.
