The Norwegian Krone is the currency of the Kingdom of Norway since 1875, replacing the Norwegian speciedaler. As with similarly named ‘krona’ and ‘koruna’ currencies, the name ‘krone’ is a reference to a crown, featured on many Scandinavian coins. The Norwegian krone is identified as one of the safe haven currencies for 2017.
