The Bank of Canada issued Canadian Dollar banknotes in 12 different denominations, including this 1 Canadian Dollar banknote (border series 1937). They are part of the withdrawn Canadian Dollar banknotes series. The Bank of Canada started issuing these 1 Canadian Dollar banknotes in 1937. They were withdrawn from circulation in 1954.

This one dollar – un dollar banknote depicts His Majesty King George VI. The paper note contains the words ‘bank of Canada – banque du Canada’. The Bank of Canada issued these banknotes only two years after the previous issue. This was because of the death of King George V and the decision to introduce bilingual banknotes.
