100 Chilean Pesos coin

The Casa de Moneda issued Chilean Peso coins in 6 different denominations, including this 100 Chilean Pesos coin. They are part of the Chilean Peso coins series. The Casa de Moneda started issuing these 100 Chilean Peso coins in 2001. They are currently still in circulation.

This $100 Pesos bi-metallic coin from Chile depicts a Mapuche indigenous woman on one side, and the Chilean national coat of arms within a wreath on the reverse. The coat of arms consists of a star in a shield with feathers atop, flanked by a huemel (a deer native to Chile) and a condor (a large vulture found throughout the Andes). On coins that are in good condition, the words ‘Por la Razón o la Fuerza’ can be made out below the shield. This translates as ‘By reason or by force’.
