2000 Chilean Pesos banknote (type 1997 to 2003)
The Banco Central de Chile issued Chilean Peso banknotes in 10 different denominations,
including this 2000 Chilean Pesos banknote (type 1997 to 2003). They are part of the withdrawn Chilean Peso banknotes series. The Banco Central de Chile started issuing
these 2000 Chilean Peso banknotes in 2004. They were withdrawn from circulation in 2008.
This Chilean old 2,000 Pesos banknote features Manuel Rodríguez, a Chilean laywer who became one of the leaders in the movement for independence from Spain. Rodríguez had the misfortune to be captured and executed by Spanish forces in 1818. The reverse of the banknote shows the Church of Los Domenicos, also known as the Church of San Vicente Ferrer, in Santiago de Chile. The logo of the Central Bank of Chile, the Andean Condor, is also depicted on the back of the dos mil pesos bill.
