The Reserve Bank of Fiji introduced the country’s flora and fauna currency series in 2013. The designs moved away from royal portraits and placed Fiji’s natural heritage at the centre of its banknotes and coins.
The series highlights rare and native species found in Fiji, including birds, fish, plants and reptiles. The FJ$5 note was issued as a polymer banknote, while other denominations in the series used paper at launch.
