This 100 Greek Drachmas coin features a portrait of Alexander the Great on the obverse side. The back side of the 100 GRD piece shows a 16-pointed star in a circle, the Vergina Sun, believed to belong to Philip II of Macedon, father of Alexander the Great. The use of the sunburst symbol was continued during the Hellenistic civilization in Ancient Greece.
