The commemorative banknote of ₭100,000 Lao Kip was issued to celebrate the 450th Anniversary of the relocation of Laos’ capital, from Luang Prabang to Vientiane. The front side shows a statue of King Xaysettha in front of the Great Stupa of Pha That Luang. On the back side of the 100,000 LAK bill is an image of Haw Phra Kaew, a former temple and currently a museum, also located in Vientiane. The temple, part of a Buddhist wat, used to house the famous Emerald Buddha.
