The Central Bank of Sri Lanka issued Sri Lankan Rupee banknotes in 11 different denominations, including this 20 rupees Central Bank of Ceylon banknote (Fauna and Flora series). They are part of the withdrawn Sri Lankan Rupees banknotes series. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka started issuing these 20 Sri Lankan Rupee banknotes in 1979. They were withdrawn from circulation in 1982.

The 20 Ceylonese Rupees banknote from the Fauna and Flora series features native animals from Sri Lanka, such as a langur monkey, wood pigeon, dalawa medilla’ snake, rhino-horned lizard and Ceylon blue magpie bird.
