50 rupees Central Bank of Ceylon banknote (Armorial Ensign series)
The Central Bank of Sri Lanka issued Sri Lankan Rupee banknotes in 15 different denominations, including this 50 rupees Central Bank of Ceylon banknote (Armorial Ensign series). They are part of the withdrawn Sri Lankan Rupees banknotes series. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka started issuing these 50 Sri Lankan Rupee banknotes in 1956. They were withdrawn from circulation in 1962.
The violet and blue coloured bill of 50 rupees has the Ceylonese Armorial Ensign on the left hand side of the front. The back side shows the moonstone and stairway of the Queens Pavilion in Anuradhapura.
