100 Vietnamese Dong foreign exchange certificate
The State Bank of Vietnam issued Vietnamese Dong banknotes in 12 different denominations,
including this 100 Vietnamese Dong foreign exchange certificate. They are part of the withdrawn Vietnamese Dong banknotes series. The State Bank of Vietnam started issuing
these 100 Vietnamese Dong banknotes in 1987. They were withdrawn from circulation in 1991.
Vietnam’s currency, the Dong, was not freely tradable in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Foreign Exchange Certificates (FEC) like this 100 dong certificate were used by tourists as a means of payment. This blue-green coloured 100 dong bill has Vietcombank’s name, logo and headquarters on the back side.
