On the banknote of 5 Cruzeiros from 1970 is the portrait of Dom Pedro I, Emperor of Brasil and King of Portugal, known as “the Liberator”. On the back side of the Cr $ 5 bill is a view on Largo do Paço, the parade square in Rio de Janeiro. The image is a reproduced from an 18th century painting by Leandro Joaquim. The two sides of the banknote are of a different main colour: blue on the front side and red/brick on the reverse side.
