The second Cruzeiro was introduced as Brazil’s national currency in 1970, originally called ‘Cruzeiro Novo’, ISO-code BRB. Brazilian Second Cruzeiros banknotes were in use from 1970 until 1986, when they were replaced by the Brazilian Cruzado at a rate of 1000 Cruzeiros to 1 Cruzado.
