The Bank of Taiwan issued new Taiwan dollar banknotes in 8 different denominations, including this 1000 New Taiwan Dollars banknote (no hologram strip). They are part of the withdrawn New Taiwan Dollar banknotes series. The Bank of Taiwan started issuing these 1000 new Taiwan dollar banknotes in 1999. They were withdrawn from circulation in 2001.

This 1000 New Taiwan dollars banknote from the Fifth Series has no hologram security strip. It was discontinued after only two years in circulation following reports of counterfeits. In 2001 this banknote was replaced by a similarly designed 1000 new Taiwan dollar banknote with improved security features.
