They are part of the demonetized Peruvian Inti banknotes series. The Banco Central de Reserva del Perú started issuing these 5000000 Peruvian Sol banknotes in 1990. They were withdrawn from circulation in 1991.
At the peak of inflation in the early 1990’s, Peru issued this banknote of 5 Million Intis. It was the highest denomination banknote of the Peruvian Intis series and features Antonio Raimondi, Peruvian geographer and scientist. The backside of the Cinco Millones De Intis bill shows a native American comforting Raimondi.
