The National Bank of Serbia issued Serbian Dinar banknotes in 9 different denominations,
including this 10 Serbian Dinara banknote. They are part of the current Serbian Dinar banknotes series. The National Bank of Serbia started issuing
these 10 Serbian Dinar banknotes in 2006. They are currently still in circulation.
The 10 Serbian dinara banknote depicts the linguist Vuk Stefanović Karadžić. He published the first Serbian dictionary in 1818 after moderninsing the Serbian written language. The reverse side of this Serbian note shows lettering from the new standardised Serbian Cyrillic alphabet that Karadžić introduced. The people on this side of the banknote are members of the first Slavic congress, which took place in Prague in 1848. The 10 Serbian dinara banknote has recently been replaced by a 10 dinara coin.
