The National Bank of Serbia issued Serbian Dinar banknotes in 10 different denominations, including this 20 Serbian Dinara banknote. They are part of the current Serbian Dinar banknotes series. The National Bank of Serbia started issuing these 20 Serbian Dinar banknotes in 2006. They are currently still in circulation.

The green coloured 20 dinara Serbian banknote features the 17th century philosopher and poet from Montenegro, Petar II Petrović-Njegoš. Njegoš is also shown on the reverse of the 20 RSD note, along with views of Lovćen national park where his mausoleum sits atop the mountain Jezerski vrh in Lovćen, the national park in southwestern Montenegro.
