50000 Dinara banknote Republic of Croatia
The Croatian National Bank issued Croatian Dinar banknotes in 13 different denominations, including this 50000 Dinara banknote Republic of Croatia. They are part of the obsolete Croatian Dinar banknotes series. The Croatian National Bank started issuing these 50000 Croatian Dinar banknotes in 1993. They were withdrawn from circulation in 1994.
The Croatian dinar was temporary money issued by the Ministry of Finance following Croatia’s independence from Yugoslavia. The dinar quickly lost value and higher denomination banknotes had to be issued to compensate the loss of purchasing power. The banknote of 50,000 dinara was introduced along with the 100,000 dinara note in May 1993. The Pedeset Tisuca Hrvatskih Dinara shares the design of the front side with all other HRD banknotes, featuring Croatian astronomer Ruder Bosković. On the back side is the statue Povijest Hrvata by Ivan Meštrović.
