The Bank of Mexico issued Mexican Peso banknotes in 15 different denominations, including this 20 old Mexican Pesos banknote (José María Morelos). They are part of the obsolete Old Mexican Peso banknotes series. The Bank of Mexico started issuing these 20 Mexican Peso banknotes in 1973. They were withdrawn from circulation in 1992.
On the front of the old $20 Mexican Pesos banknote is the portrait of priest and independence movement leader José Maria Morelos, whose image is featured more than anyone else’s on Mexican paper money.
