The 1984 version of the purple and brown-coloured paper banknote of 5 Nigerian Naira pictures Prime Minister Tafawa Balewa on the front side. The back side of the withdrawn 5 NGN bill shows traditional Nigerian drummers. A white circle is on both sides of the note, surrounding the note’s watermark, a heraldic eagle. The 1984 version was issued for many years. First undated and later including the year of issue on the front side: 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 or 2005. Undated banknotes are from between 1984 and 2000.
