The Banco Central do Brasil issued Brazilian Cruzeiro banknotes in 13 different denominations, including this 1,000 Brazilian Cruzeiros banknote (Pedro Álvares Cabral orange type). It shows Pedro Álvares Cabral attending the first Catholic mass in Brazil in 1500, on Coroa Vermelha beach in Santa Cruz Cabrália, Bahia. Two versions of this banknote exist: This orange coloured version, printed by Thomas de la Rue & Company Limited, and a blue version printed by the American Bank Note Company.
