200 Brazilian Cruzeiros banknote (Dom Pedro I blue type)

The Banco Central do Brasil issued Brazilian Cruzeiro banknotes in 13 different denominations, including this 200 Brazilian Cruzeiros banknote (Dom Pedro I blue type). They are part of the Brazilian First Cruzeiros banknotes series. The Banco Central do Brasil started issuing these 200 Brazilian Cruzeiro banknotes in 1961. They were withdrawn from circulation in 1970.

The blue-coloured 200 Cruzeiros banknote features the proclamation of Brazilian independence by Regent Dom Pedro I in 1822. Dom Pedro’s portrait is shown on the obverse side, while the reverse side shows the painting “Grito do Iparinga” by Pedro Américo. The banknote, printed by the American Bank Note Company in 1961 has the same design as the green-coloured 200 cruzeiros bill printed by Thomas de la Rue Company Limited in 1960.
